Buying original art feels like it was designed to put you off

01

You find a piece you love — and then hit a wall

An artist posts something perfect on Instagram. No price. No buy button. DMing a stranger to ask "how much?" feels presumptuous, so you close the tab and forget about it.

02

Etsy sends you down a rabbit hole of uncertainty

You search "original oil painting under R3,000" and can't tell what's handmade versus a print of a painting, what's genuinely good versus heavily promoted, or whether that R1,800 piece will look cheap in person. You give up and order a poster you feel lukewarm about.

03

Galleries make you feel like you don't belong

You walk in, prices are nowhere, asking feels wrong, and you leave having learned nothing — more convinced than ever that buying real art is for other kinds of people.

A marketplace built around you, not the art world

01

Transparent pricing, every single time

Every work lists the full price upfront — and shows exactly what the artist takes home. No enquire-for-price, no negotiation, no guesswork about whether you're being sized up.

02

Original work, curated for the price-conscious

Every piece on the platform is a one-of-a-kind original — no prints, no reproductions. A dedicated under-R5,000 category is built for first-time buyers who want something real without spending gallery money.

03

A discovery experience designed for non-collectors

Filter by size, colour palette, style, and price. Read a plain-English bio of each artist. Buy with a single checkout. Your piece arrives within two weeks with a handwritten card from the artist — a connection no print-on-demand site can replicate.

How it works

01

Browse without intimidation

Search by room size, style, colour, and budget. Every result is a verified original work with a visible price — no enquiry forms, no waiting for a reply that never comes.

02

Learn about the artist before you buy

Each listing includes a plain-English artist profile: where they work, what drives their practice, and what this specific piece is about. You buy knowing exactly who made it and why.

03

Check out in one place

Purchase directly through the platform at the listed price. No DMs, no PayPal invoices forwarded by a stranger, no ambiguity about whether the sale is real.

04

Receive it — and something more

Your original work is shipped and arrives within two weeks, packaged carefully and accompanied by a personal card from the artist. It's the beginning of a relationship with the person who made the thing on your wall.

Questions, answered.

Are these actually original works, or are some of them prints?
Every piece on the platform is a unique, one-of-a-kind original — a painting, drawing, or mixed-media work that exists only once. We do not list open-edition prints, giclées, or reproductions. If it sells, it's gone.
How do I know the price is fair — am I overpaying because it's a marketplace?
Each listing shows the full price and the exact percentage the artist receives. There is no hidden gallery commission layered on top. What you see is what the artist agreed to sell it for, and you can see what they take home.
What if the piece looks different in person than it does on screen?
Every listing includes multiple photographs taken in natural light, a size reference shot showing the work in a real room, and the exact dimensions. If the work arrives and is materially different from how it was represented, we make it right.
How does shipping work, and what if the piece is damaged in transit?
Artists ship within five business days of purchase. Works are professionally packaged, and every order is covered for damage in transit. If something arrives damaged, we coordinate a replacement or full refund — you will not be left managing a dispute with a stranger.
Can I return a piece if I get it home and it doesn't work in my space?
We offer a 14-day return window from delivery. If the piece genuinely doesn't work in your space, you can return it for a full refund. We ask only that it is returned in its original condition.
How do I know the artists are legitimate — not just people selling hobby work?
Every artist goes through an application and curation review before their work is listed. We look at consistency of practice, craft, and whether the work is genuinely original. The goal is not to gatekeep, but to make sure every buyer gets something worth owning.
